Shikha, the founder of SH Travel Representation, turned her childhood passion for travel into a thriving business. Inspired by her father’s travel agency and her own experiences, she launched SH Travel two years ago, post-pandemic. Shikha Kataria, the Director of SH Travel Representation, started her journey in the travel industry with a deep passion for exploration. From a young age, she was fascinated by the world of travel. “I would ask my dad to take me to the airport just to watch planes take off,” she recalls. At just 12 years old, she took her first solo flight to India, further fueling her love for travel. Her husband, Harpal Ghuman, played a significant role in inspiring her to pursue this business. Her career path seemed destined when she helped her father run his travel agency after school. “I was this ‘whiz kid’ in the community,” she says, as she became an expert in online bookings long before the digital transformation of travel.
After university, she landed a job with an airline, helping to introduce a new route. “I didn’t expect it, but I got a call: ‘Shika Kataria, you have the job!’” She quickly adapted to cold calling and building relationships, which laid the foundation for her future success.
Her journey took her from airline sales to global hotel sales, working with travel agents, tour operators, and corporate clients. Then, three children later, after a break from her career, a former colleague from an India-based DMC encouraged her to start her own business. That’s when SH Travel Representation was born.
